Dessie teacher's education is was established in January 1972. Locates in South Wollo Zone with Dessie. It 404 km For far from Addis and 480 km From Amhara Capital Bahirdar. The Area coverage of the Campus existent 192.052 m2 . Brief note for Dessie CTE 1. 1972 – 1996, the training mainly focused with elementary school teachers, and graduated teacher at certificate level. 2. 1996 on wards it started the 10+3 diploma program. - Trained teachers in the pre-service and in-service program. 3. Besides this it also provided training for Directors and supervisors through in-service /kiremt/ program. 4. Starting from 1986 EC . it save training fro pre-primary school ( KG ) teachers.

It was established in 1972E.C as teacher training institute of the primary level. The capacity of the buildings was considered to be sufficient for about 500 trainees, At that time it was started with the aim of preparing teachers for elementary first cycle level in the in-service and pre-service program..
